The story

Affleck and Damon have publicly described an enduring friendship and continued creative partnership. They appear to have met as children in Cambridge around 1980, when Affleck was about eight and Damon about ten. As aspiring actors, Affleck and Damon traveled to New York for auditions and kept joint savings for train and airline tickets. Affleck and Damon co-wrote and starred in the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting.” Affleck and Damon jointly received the 1998 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for “Good Will Hunting.” Their professional collaboration continued through at least 2023, including “The Last Duel,” “Air,” and their production company Artists Equity.
